Athelas is set in picturesque Glaisdale, within the North York Moors National Park, yet less than half an hour from Whitby and the beautiful Cleveland coastline. Our studio is the perfect peaceful haven for a romantic break. Local amenities include the village pub, award winning butchers, post office and general store, tennis court, cricket ground and the Robinson Institute our village hall which hosts a rotation of regular events. The village has a railway station and is well served by local bus routes.

Glaisdale is an ideal holiday location, step out of the front door for easy access to stunning walks and scenery. Athelas is perfectly placed to explore a plethora of pretty villages such as Goathland, Grosmont, Egton, Lealholm, Rosedale Abbey and Egton Bridge. The Esk Valley Railway runs from Whitby to Middlesborough and also connects to the North York Moors Railway and its famous steam trains. The local bus service connects to Whitby, and the other villages of the North York Moors. The towns of Pickering in the heart of the North York Moors, and Whitby on the coast are less then half an hour’s drive away and can also be accessed by rail as mentioned above. York and Scarborough lie approximately 50 minutes drive from Glaisdale.

With a stylish and contemporary feel, Athelas boasts every convenience and is an ideal base to explore the stunning beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors and coast. With views over an established garden and valley you can relax and unwind with a glass of wine.

Painted in timeless white, the space exudes calm and comfort. From the beautiful fireplace with patterned blue and pink porcelain tiles and local stone hearth to the bright and fresh kitchen with stunning garden views.

The kitchen features chic French Gray cabinets complemented by colourful geometric tiles which tone in well with skandi inspired appliances. The kitchen is fully fitted and has everything you need including washer/dryer, dishwasher, hob, oven, microwave and coffee machine. Cutlery, crockery and high quality pots and pans ensure you can easily prepare and serve a delicious meal. The fitted breakfast bar with comfortable, full, tan leather seats provide the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal or coffee.

The king size bed and comfortable mattress should ensure a restful nights sleep. The room is equipped with a sofa and side table so you can relax by the fire and a 43 inch smart flatscreen TV. The property is strewn with art and pictures adding pops of colour and drama throughout. Egyptian cotton bath sheets and handtowels are provided as standard alongside complimentary toiletries. Guests can enjoy the external patio area with views of the garden and also outdoor spaces including the garth, a gated parcel of land set to the front of the property. There is a bench to sit, relax and enjoy the wonderful countryside views.

Athelas was perfect for our mini break , The accomodation was outstanding Very clean, Very comfy, Cosy and it had all you need for a self catering experience. sited it an outstanding remote location i would highly recommend a visit to this part of the country as the beauty is outstanding and Athelas just made it the perfect break.

Pet Friendly stays

Athelas is extremely welcoming for our four legged friends. Pet Stays are provided a towel for wiping muddy paws and a blanket. Youll find free treats, pet bowls and a spare lead in case of emergencies. Specialist pet cleaning spray is also available. Pet stays are charged at £10 per dog per stay.

Pet owners can also take advantage of the garth a gated parcel of land ideal for walking and playing. A bench is placed on the garth during summer so guests can relax soak up the sun and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

At Laneside we champion local produce and home made items. We offer a selection of breakfast hampers including
